A Calm Night In Pentwater – photo by Todd and Brad Reed

Pentwater is just minutes off of US-31 in West Michigan, which is along the route of the Lake Michigan Circle Tour.

There are very few places left where you can feel happy, safe, relaxed. Pentwater is that kind of place. This small village creates memories for you and your family that won’t soon be forgotten.

Pentwater’s Unique Features:

Walking through downtown, you’re struck by the colorful storefronts that beckon you inside to explore their unique items…perfect for your home or that special gift. Discuss the day’s news inside one of Pentwater’s cozy restaurants, or take an ice cream cone and sit on the soft grass on the Village Green. The cool breezes off Lake Michigan will refresh you, and it’s fun to watch the boats come in and out of Pentwater marinas. Slip onto a side street and admire the charming Victorian homes and cottages of Pentwater. Many take pride in their beautiful gardens, filled with colorful hyacinths, daylilies, roses, and hydrangeas. The tree-lined streets are so typical of bygone days in small town America.

Charles Mears State Park Charles Mears State Park offers 175 paved campsite lots and a nice sandy beach along Lake Michigan, adjacent to Pentwater’s North Pierhead Light. There is a one mile interpretive trail for hiking, and a sand dune called Old Baldy that provides a spectacular view of Lake Michigan. Visitors can enjoy a playground, picnic shelter, and great fishing. The park also has an accessible walkway by the concession stand, making it easier for people in wheelchairs or those with strollers and coolers on wheels. Nearby is the public beach, where you’ll enjoy the natural Lake Michigan shoreline of Pentwater.

Art Galleries: Pentwater is known for its art galleries and antique shops. You can spend hours looking around at past and present treasures. Make sure you’re in Pentwater the 4th Friday of the month for the Art Stroll, where various participating downtown galleries open their doors from 5-8pm. Pentwater also plays host to Arts & Crafts Fairs during the summer months, where you’re guaranteed to find something special!

Come visit us and you’ll see why Pentwater offers visitors a lovely, relaxing vacation. You’ll want to return to this special place time and time again.
