New Buffalo is one of several Southwest Michigan communities included on the Lake Michigan Circle Tour.

New Buffalo, Michigan is notably known as the Gateway to Michigan.
The first pioneer to settle in the area was Captain Wessel Whitaker in 1834.
A couple years later in 1836, New Buffalo became established, then incorporated in 1837.

The area offers a variety of activities for both residents & visitors to do.
A historical walking tour boasting several attractions within New Buffalo’s historic district. Eight parks, a skate park, & a beach on Lake Michigan attracts all.

New Buffalo residents are also very proud to have Galien River Great Lakes Marsh, a protected
243.53 acres to enjoy and explore.
