Visit Cave Point County Park

Located just north of Whitefish Dunes State Park on the eastern coast of Door County, Cave Point County Park should not be missed. Visitors will really enjoy the underwater caves that were formed over thousands of years from the surf pounding against the limestone bluffs. When the winds blow hard off Lake Michigan, you’ll hear a thunder-like sound, which is actually the waves crashing against the cliffs. You’ll feel the power under your feet and experience the water spray, which can shoot up to 20 feet in the air! The view from high above the bluff is spectacular, and even during the winter Cave Point is beautiful, with ice covering trees and rocks.

Often referred to as “The Cape Cod of the Midwest,” Door County actually has five state parks and 12 lighthouses. With its beautiful scenery, fishing, biking and hiking are popular in this area…as well as camping. If staying in the area overnight, you’ll have no problem finding the perfect lodging facility–from luxury resorts to family friendly motels.

Biking is very popular in this area, with blacktopped roads and half mile hiking trail. The 19 acre park itself has picnic tables, grills, fire rings, a gazebo, and restrooms. Enjoy the tranquility of the park and take note of the wide variety of birds. After your visit to Cave Point County Park, make your way south to the shipbuilding city of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. Every type of vessel imaginable can be found here, from expensive yachts to tugboats to huge ocean ships.

It’s worth the drive to some of Wisconsin’s other communities, such as Green Bay. Home of the Packers, Green Bay equals fun no matter what the season! Summer in the Park, Bayfest and Artstreet are some of the biggest events of the summer, and winter features the Holiday Parade and On Broadway Lighting Ceremony. Then there’s the Wisconsin Dells, the Waterpark Capital of the World. Visit one of the 24 waterparks in the area, each one unique and different in size. Climb aboard a Duck or waterboat and cruise down the waterways, or choose from any number of family-friendly activities.

As you explore Wisconsin’s Lake Michigan shoreline, remember that Cave Point is a “don’t miss” destination. Bring your camera and take home some wonderful Door County memories!

If you’re arriving in Wisconsin via the S.S. Badger carferry, your first stop will be in Manitowoc. Follow the coastline road north to get to Whitefish Dunes State Park, Cave Point County Park and the entire Door County region.
